For a full collation of information to help you decide you can go to The Kindle Decision aka the $400 Question – Should I Buy a Kindle?.
Updated Jan 2nd, 2009 – The same trend persists – owners overwhelmingly give the Kindle 4 or 5 stars, and absolutely love it. Something like 5% of owners give it low ratings and don’t like it. The rest of the negative reviews of the Kindle are from people who’ve never used and in most cases never even seen a kindle.
I went through around 200 reviews in December and the findings matched my findings from the Jan 17th 2008 update.
[ Edited on Jan 17th, 2008 6:14 pm] What I’ve found so far is that in the last 50-60 reviews there are hardly any 1 and 2 star reviews and overwhelmingly 4 and 5 star reviews from owners. Also, have been going through the 1 star reviews and well some of them really are from Kindle owners. – Updates soon]
On a Squidoo Lens i read something I find hard to believe –
I have just completed the onerous task of reading every one star review on Amazon.com. Out of 254 one star reviews, 251 of them are from people who haven’t actually bought a Kindle. Only 3 reviews of are from people who claim to have bought a Kindle, and at least one of those is decidedly dubious.
The research with the 200 reviews has shown this is true – most negative reviews are from people who have never owned the kindle.
