Update courtesy Richard (comment below): I just bought a PQI 8 GB SDHC card and the Kindle recognized it without a problem. I’ve tranferred books to it and they work perfectly.

Where to buy – The Kindle Store – Accessories doesn’t list anything above 2GB, so I’d recommend www.newegg.com .
