They don’t affect available memory as they’re on Amazon’s servers.

If you want to delete books from Archive you can go to the ‘Manage My Kindle’ page on Amazon. Press the ‘+’ next to a book’s name and you get options including a Delete button.
Note that books you delete are gone FORVER. You have to rebuy them if you want them again.
