Kindle Book Light Guide

The most recommended Book Light for the Amazon Kindle seems to be the Mighty Bright – it also comes with a rather interesting ‘Kindle Compatible’ tag. Anyways you can buy the Mighty Bright BookLight for the Kindle at Amazon (big surprise ;) ). It costs $19 approximately. You can also check out the whole Mighty Bright Book Lights selection.

Another Book Light that got a very positive recommendation is the rechargeable ReLight Rechargeable BookLight. Its more expensive at $35. Update: Available at National Geographic for $19.95  (although the ReLight brand name is not mentioned it has the same design and is obviously the same light).

Open: There are some reviews that say this light doesn’t clip on and some that talk about folding back the cover + then clipping it to the Kindle Cover. Also, this comes with a stand so you can stand it on its stand - i guess.

And if you want to browse through options yourself here is the Book Lights Selection at Amazon.

Finally, someone mentioned “I found some cute little book lights at the Dollar Tree. LED, very lightweight, with little batteries. Only $1″ .

And a user review for the Mighty Bright Xtra Flex2 Book Light(Black):

I have been using the Mighty Bright Light for over a month now. The light is very rugged, easy to clip to the “Kindle” cover or any book cover, and easy to position. The only problem I have had is that it is almost too bright. Normally, I position the switch so that only one of the two LED lights is on, and that works fine for a typical paperback or the “Kindle” size screen.

Also, since the power used is now cut in half, the batteries will last twice as long. I easily get a weeks worth of reading from the batteries this way. I only need both LED lights on if I am reading a large hardback book. Even with only one LED light on, there is still some glare off of the “Kindle” screen. The way to avoid this glare is to angle the goose-neck so the light spills from left to right across the “Kindle” display.

Also, I have placed red car tail-light repair tape across the single LED light that I normally use (the tape is thick and easy to remove unlike regular thin clear tape), so I do not disturb anyone who is sleeping while I am reading, and while camping I then keep my night vision. Overall, I am very satisfied with this night light.

  1. I disagree with your suggestion of the ReLight – there are two listings on Amazon. The reviews on the listing below say that the clip is very shallow, and won’t even fasten onto a regular book cover, but has to be clipped to a few pages. In my opinion, there’s no way it would be able to clip onto the Kindle or its cover.

  2. ummm .. found out about the ReLight from someone on a Kindle forum who said they loved it. Well, let me check and get back to you on whether this light’s holder is too small to clip onto the Kindle. BTW it does have its own stand so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was using it on its own stand. Will let you know either way.

  3. well the bad news is the reviews don’t clearly outline whether this works with the Kindle (some say it does) or not (some say it doesn’t).
The good news is i ran into a comment that had this Available at National Geographic for $19.95 (although not with the same name).
The link is in the original post.

  4. The most attractive and compact light I have seen sold for the Kindle is by the company M-edge.
i have a Kindle case by them and it is made really well.

  5. I guess the Kandle wasn’t available when you wrote this post.
