Really interesting post on the Eeeph Forum (courtesy member vicicasas) showing the Asus Eee PC being used as an ebook reader a la Amazon’s Kindle. That got me started.
In “Amazon Kindle” mode. FBReader running fullscreen and rotated, with the Next Page key assigned to both the spacebar and the “1″ key, depending on where my left hand is holding the book … erm, i mean, the computer

By using FBReader in fullscreen and portrait mode, an Eeeph forum member turned his Eee into a Kindle imitator. Since FBReader is a free e-book reader for Unix and Windows computers this little Kindle tweak shouldn’t be too hard to get you a multi-function e-reader out of the popular Eee PC.
The Asus EeePC being in color does add a new dimension + it has a really useful looking interface with Skype and ‘eBook’
BTW, the non ‘Kindled’ general walkthrough of the Asus EeePC at the Asus website is rather pointless ( I own a killer good Asus F3Sv laptop so I wish they did a better job ). Also, the page takes forever to load – they should shoot whoever designed it for them. However check the link at Amazon below.
Also, at the CES Innovations etc. (long meandering name) Show, they gave it an award -

And the specs and features and reviews ( at Amazon – 4.5 stars with mostly 5 stars) are pretty impressive i.e. Asus EeePC. You can also check the Asus EeePC in Pearl White at Amazon (note that this, in contrast to the last ink, only lists the $399 model and not the lower priced ones).
In the reviews for the Asus EeePC at Amazon, 31 of 38 give the Pearly White model 5 stars, and 38 of 52 give the Black version 5 stars. Lots of good information in the reviews.

Waterfield Designs makes a great sleeve for the Asus eeePC *and* for the Kindle. I have both and can attest that they are sleek and bomb-proof.
