The media buzz over Jeff Bezos’ apology letter for Amazon Kindle Delays amazes me. For anyone wondering about Kindle delays i.e. Bezos: “We hope to be able to announce to you within the next few weeks that we’re back in stock and that when you order a Kindle, we’ll ship it to you that very same day. That’s our goal: order today, and we ship today. Until then, customers can order now, and they’ll be first in line.”
My analysis of Kindle waiting times showed a 5 to 7 weeks kindle wait (ironically top post toay), and it was one reason people were not buying the Kindle. In a few weeks all this becomes just a lesson in creating amazing and unintentional (i think) demand and buzz for a product.

I recently had my Kindle taken from my car with other items. I had it only 2 weeks! I am STILL waiting for a replacement having ordered it on March 3rd. It a great device and I am so disappointed that it has taken so long to get another! I guess they were at first overwhelmed and didn’t anticipate the rush!

too bad about the theft Ken. on the plus side if they do fix the supply issues ina few weeks as Jeff Bezos promised, you should be getting your Kindle soon.

I bought a Sony 505 ereader because Kindle always showed out of stock. I’m happy so far.
On a similar matter, I had a line of pixels go out on my Kindle’s screen a few weeks back, and I finally got fed up enough to call Amazon’s customer support about it. I was issued an RMA on the spot, and received a replacement Kindle within a week. The CSR told me that RMA replacements were put at the front of the queue for Kindles, so that would indicate to me that the shortage is still there, but the supply issues must be getting better.
