Let’s hope it has the ability to Search documents. Unless there has been a software upgrade of the Iliad; the Kindle is the only device that will do that (by searching everything in Kindle).

Kindle killer?

Doubt it. Different markets.

Look at the pricing. How much extra each month for the 3G connection?

Where’s the content coming from? Part of what makes the Kindle work is the clout that amazon has with publishers. I can get recently published books for a reasonable price.

If you just want to read business documents this might be worth buying. How many folks though would need this just to review business docs but also would not need or be carrying a laptop?

While the new iRex looks like a sweet unit I’ll stick with my Kindle and look forward to Kindle 2.0 which I’m sure will take advantage of similar or better screen sizes/technology.

The base price is $650 without the writable screen, 3G or Wifi?

I am confused… why the heck would I buy a basic ebook reader for that much money?

While I like my Kindle I felt it was too expensive but now I am not so sure. I use the 3G when I am travelling to check on stocks and news and whatnot and buy an occasional newspaper online.

That’s gonna make a whole lot more sense for business and student use than a Kindle.

Good thing I’m not a student or a businessperson. But that device could convert my wife to the e-book way of seeing the world, whereas I haven’t exactly sold her on my Kindle…
