March 8th through 14th is ‘Read an eBook Week’ and there are a ton of free books available for your Kindle 2, Kindle 1. Here are my picks –
- Cory Doctorow has his books Little Brother and Eastern Standard Tribe available for free.
- 5 free Sci-Fi books from Amazon.
- SciFi Guy’s free SciFi eBooks (they’re in PDF).
- Cliff Burns has two Sci-Fi novels for free on his blog.
- Randolph Lalonde has the first book of his First Light Chronicles Series, FreeGround, available as a free eBook - choose the .prc format (MobiPocket) for downloading to your Kindle 2.
- SmashWords has some special ebook offers during Read an eBook Week.
- M. D. Benoit has a buy one book, get two others free offer going on for her Jack Meter series.
You can check out all the free offers at Read an eBook Week.
It’s strange to me when people want you to subscribe to an email list to get free books. How are those books free? Harvesting emails is just wrong.
Also it makes no sense to me to have users enter a contest and have one win a free eBook. It’s an eBook – give it away and spread your work.
On the whole though – lots of people doing Read an eBook week in the right spirit and lots of free books to be had for your Kindle 2 + 1.

I agree. It’s better to make your ebooks free for ‘Read an eBook Week’ and I have done just that. www/smashwords.com/profile/view/desgreene
