Kindle Review – Kindle Fire Review, Kindle 4 Review

The fact that Kindle 2 is available in just white can be balanced by the rather impressive variety of skins, screen protectors, and covers that are now available. Some of the best skins are available from MyGift via Amazon (these are the same Kindle 2 skins sold at decal girl) -   

1. Kindle 2 Decal Skins -  There are 150 or so Kindle 2 decal skins available to choose from. They are, for some strange reason, classified under the electronics store and are thus not listed in the Kindle 2 Accessories section.

2. Cheap Kindle 2 Skins – There’s a seller called 3ACP Skins at Amazon that is selling some very intricate, slightly edgy skins (51 in all) for $13.95 each. #6 onwards on this Cheap Kindle 2 Skins search results page.

3. Kindle 2 Screen Protectors – There are some cheap and simple transparent screen protectors (sub $5) at this link.
4. Kindle 2 Covers – Check out my Kindle 2 Cover guide as it discusses a range of Kindle 2 covers.
5. Customized Kindle 2 Covers – Consider Strangedog.com’s hand made kindle 2 covers at Etsy.  
6. Tego, Decal Girl, and SkinIt customized Kindle 2 Covers. I’d recommend using Tego when they do add the ability to custom make a skin for the Kindle 2 (they don’t currently). Until then, it’s decal girl for $5 more than the usual cost of a Kindle 2 Skin. SkinIt do have skins for Kindle 2 - However, there were some complaints about SkinIt at Amazon Forum since the skins have a lot of adhesive and are hard to take off. Also, they don’t cover the Kindle 2′s buttons.
7. Kindle 2 Screensavers – You can also add your own screensavers – Go to this page, and see Post #41 for directions and the code. Note: This might mess up your Kindle 2 and, while it does not void your warranty, having it fixed might be painful and you might have to send your Kindle 2 to Amazon.

And, if you’re in/near New York City, Adafruit will happily etch your Kindle 2, or iPhone etc.

The combination of -

1. Adding your own screen-savers. 
2. Choosing a personalized skin for your Kindle 2 or one of the available skins.  
3. Picking a Kindle 2 cover you like or having one custom-made at Etsy.
4. Adding on stickers and other little touches.

does allow for a lot of personalization of your Kindle 2 and compensates for the fact that Kindle 2 is available only in white. Do leave a comment if you have suggestions, ideas or a skin you really like.
