This Kindle 4 speculation and latest status review post is just a placeholder.
Been trying to envision the eReader market and what state of the art technology would look like in end 2010/early 2011 – presumably when Kindle 4 comes out.
However, there are a few things that make it difficult -
- Is the Kindle Textbook edition going to be called Kindle 3 – meaning Kindle 4 actually comes out in early 2010.
- On the other hand if the Kindle textbook edition is a completely separate line, then Kindle 3 comes out in end 2009 or early 2010, and that means Kindle 4 only comes out in end 2010 or early 2011.
- We know that a 9.7″ Kindle is up next. Is it Kindle 3 or part of the KindleText line-up? Will Kindle 4 stay with the bigger screen size – probably yes.
- If Pixel Qi manage to release a magic new screen technology it changes the game so drastically that speculating on Kindle 4 becomes meaningless.
- Apple’s larger 10″ iTouch is the other X-Factor. It it comes out before this holiday season and overwhelms the eReader market, what form the Kindle 4 takes changes completely.
So, at this point just leaving this Kindle 4 speculation/review as an open loop, and will fill in more data as things become clearer.
