There are a lot of free books being released which you can peruse on your Kindles (some might need PDF to kindle conversion) -
- Laurie King’s The BeeKeeper’s Apprentice. Its extended for a few days only (beyond April 15th) so get it quick. It comes in 4 PDFs (see link at top of post for conversion guide).
The Beekeeper’s Apprentice was chosen as one the “100 Favorite Mysteries of the 20th Century” by the IMBA and a Notable YA book by the American Library Association.
- Joe Blumenstein aka Joe Bees’ Get Off Your A** and Do Something: The Baby Boomer’s Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy. Its a PDF you can download and convert.
- Next we have a rather interesting offer. Buy a book at an independent southern bookstore and some lady (as opposed to a fish) called Wanda will send you a free book -
Buy a book at one of the participating Southern independent bookstores (online or in person), and you’ll get a free book. Just fill out the form and mail it in your receipt, and Wanda will ship you a free book from her personal huge library.
- If you have a kid under 5 you might be able to get a free book a month from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This seems to be limited to only a few zip codes – worth a try though.
- Harper Collins have added some titles to their ‘Browse Inside – Full Access’ program. You can literally read the whole book on your PC. There are 18 books with Full Access, including -
* Paulo Coelho’s The Winner Stands Alone.
* The Zahir by Paulo Coelho.
* The Peter Principle by Dr. Laurence J. Peter.
* The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar.
* Quite a few romance novels.
* Some Vampire related books.
* The first book of 2 Erin Hunter series – Seekers and Warriors. - Till April 22nd, two free books from Microsoft Press - one each related to Windows Small Business Server 2008, and Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. (found this courtesy books on the knob).
- A free Audible audiobook – METAtropolis. Again Books on the Knob had the scoop.
Wow – that’s more free books than I thought and getting a 9 hr long sci-fi audio-book for my Kindle 2 was an unexpected bonus
