The NY Times book review isn&#039;t going anywhere anytime soon. I think, overall, this is the shot in the arm the industry needs. Mr. Ng.&#039;s implies distrust of &quot;tastemakers&quot; and &quot;advertisers&quot;  yet seems happy to give publishers -- who are, aside from anything else, deep in the business of nurturing taste through advertising -- free passage on the points.  Why?  See preceding point above.

And this brings up an interesting and absolutely universal point:  the defenders of traditional publishing are those who profit from it.  Period.   Again, I can respect that... but I can&#039;t look away from it.
