June 25th 7:54 update: Kindle DX product page lists it as Sold Out with 4-6 week delays.
June 10th 5:41 pm Update: Out of Stock again. The Kindle DX product page now lists Kindle DX as being In Stock June 17th. A 7 day delay.
June 10th, 8:15 am update: The Kindle DX product page now shows the Kindle DX as ‘In Stock’ and you still have 7.5 hrs to order it with next day shipping to get it tomorrow. They’ve also thrown open reviews and a few kindle dx reviews from non-owners are showing up.
Kindle DX Back In Stock
Its rather strange to see it back in stock as uptil yesterday night it was still showing that your DX will get shipped 7-10 days after you order. Lets disregard conspiracy theories and assume this is valid.
What does this say about kindle dx availability?
- We have seen no changes in wait times in the last 5 days which means there’s not really enough demand to increase waiting times.
- There’s almost certainly enough demand to match supply and keep wait times at 7-10 days.
- The introduction of wait times hasn’t seemed to increase demand.
The number of people waiting for their Kindle DX seems to be low – the official amazon forums, mobileread, and other forums all have few people responding to kindle dx ship date forum posts.
Threat of Kindle DX Selling Out: Moderate to Low.

Kindle DX Ship Date Trends
Orders Before June 5th:
- Do NOT change your shipping method now – It puts you at the back of the queue. Instead, call up customer service and try to get them to change the shipping method.
- If you ordered Next Day Delivery you should have a June 11th delivery date. This is true pretty much regardless of when you ordered, provided it was before June 5th, 2009.
- If you ordered Prime or 2nd day shipping, you ought to have a June 12th delivery date.
- Choosing free shipping is the worst as it puts your ship date at June 15th and arrival date between June 22nd and 25th.
Orders after June 5th:
- Orders after June 5th are seeing ship dates of June 12th and later. A few people are seeing longer delays of 10-11 days.
- If you order now, do try to go with 2 day shipping or 1 day shipping. There are huge delays with the Free SuperSaver shipping (adds on 5 days or more).
There’s a thread at Amazon where lots of people have put up their ship date and expected kindle dx delivery date.

Heh, I am reasonably certain there *is* a conspiracy. I placed an order the day the Kindle DX’s became available (May 6th) with Prime 2-day shipping. I have not made any modificaitons to the order, and my cover on the same order shipped already – however the Kindle itself hasn’t shipped and is listed as arriving June 16th! :O
Ahh well, a few extra days won’t kill me, and there’s not much I can do at this point anyway.
