Kindle Perk – 15 free books in June

However you cut it, having 15 free books offered for the Kindle just in June is a great perk.

You can find the latest free book offers in the Kindle Store at the blog’s free book section. Check out this page for free non-public domain books in the Kindle Store (there are 16 additional free books, from past months, listed there).

First, the list, and then some thoughts -

  1. Terry Brooks’ Magic Kingdom for Sale – Sold!
  2. Star Wars’ Lost Tribe of the Sith: Precipice .
  3. For Love of Mother Not by Alan Dean Foster.
  4. The earlier discussed free pilot script – Nurse Jackie on Showtime.

  6. Free Romance Novel ‘Seducing Jane Porter’ by Dominique Adair.
  7. The Hope of Glory: 100 Daily Meditations on Colossians by Sam Storms from Crossway Books.
  8. Deception by Sharon Cullen is/was free.
  9. The Widow by Carla Neggers - Which was free for a little while, hit the number 1 spot, then became a paid book. And is still #42. Not a bad strategy.
  10. Dead Man’s Rainby Jerry Frank Tuttle Jr is free for Kindle Owners from the 14th of June to the 28th of June
  11. Well Played – an Essay on Video Games – its free online
  12. Robin Sloan of Current TV has a free short story.
  13. 21st June to July 7th, Traci Hall’s ‘Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways’ will be free for two weeks.
  14. June 28th to July 4th, Dee Tenorio’s ‘Kiss Me Again’ will be free for a week.
  15. A free book – 10 Great Economists from Marx To Keynes (As PDF, courtesy Mises.Org).

Thoughts on Free books for Kindle

  1.  Its a pretty safe bet that there will be 5-8 free books offered up every month. At least 2-3 of those will probably appeal to you.
  2. Do keep in mind that the free books offered are either the first book in a series or books from authors that have upcoming releases. So it is intelligent marketing.
  3. In addition most up and coming self-published authors offer their books for low, low prices i.e. $1-$2.

These factors combine to create a constant supply of free, cheap books to supplement the $9.99 books you’re buying.

As time goes on we ought to see more and more competition to capture mind share and that might mean more free books. 15 free books in June (12 of which are Kindle Store specific) is one of the highest numbers in a single month since the Kindle launched, and June is only 2/3rds done.
