Added some cool features at Book Monk, in particular you can now get Kindle Store Book lists based on what criteria you consider important (instead of a single cookie-cutter list that mashes up free books with paid ones).
Update, June 29th: Added price ranges, and sorting by highest price books, and including your own search terms.
You decide what books go into your list by specifying -
- Pricing of the Book.
- Sales Rank, Reviewer Rating, Release Date ordering of Books.
- Keywords.
This is just a first version – send in requests and suggestions and will code them in.
Here’s a video for a quick walkthrough –
Here’s what you can do -
Kindle Book Lists based on Pricing
You can see the bestselling Kindle edition books in any of the following price buckets -
- Free Books.
- Books Under $2.
- Books Over $2.
- Books Under $10.
- Best of all, you can specify your own upper and lower price limits. So you can see Kindle books under $.95 or Kindle books between $1 and $9 or Kindle books over $7.75. Do note that you should NOT enter a $ in either of the boxes.
While being able to see bestsellers based on price is cool, that’s just the beginning.
Kindle Lists – Bestsellers, Latest, Best Reviewed, Lowest Priced
Amazon make it really easy to add nifty new features. So added in the ability to create top lists based off of not just sales, but also -
- Best Reviewed - So you can figure out the best reviewed books under $2.
- Release Date – So you can see which are the latest free books or the latest books under $10.
- Price – So you can list books according to lowst or highest price.
- Relevancy – List books according to how relevant they are to your search terms.
Do note that as far as Kindle Store bestsellers, Amazon does not let you use sales rank. It instead lets you use something called ‘sales velocity’ to create bestseller lists. You can still see the Sales Rank by holding your mouse over the book cover image for a second or so.
Enter Your Own Search Terms
You can find all books by Wodehouse priced between $1 and $5 by entering those price ranges, and then entering wodehouse in the search box. You can also enter search terms for ANY search combination discussed above or anything else you try.
Mix and Match for Your Own List
You can use a variety of options and data to decide on the best books for you –
- Pick one of the pre-set price buckets or specify your own.
- Choose whatever criteria you’re interested in – sales, reviews, newness, price.
- Choose what keywords you want included in the search.
- Create your own list to find something you like .
- In your list you can hover over the book cover to see List Price (Amazon usually discounts this), Author, Sales Rank, Publisher.
Send in any requests and will try to code them in. Very impressed by how well the Amazon API works. Looking forward to hearing some good ideas from you and perhaps turning them into new features.
