Free Kindle – 6 Contests

September 1st update - GUD Magazine has a Kindle 2 contest – re-tweet this message on twitter and include the tag #gudmagazine.

Kindle contests and giveaways always seem to come in bunches. Here are your end of July free kindle contests -

  1. SheKnows are having a ‘Win a Kindle’ contest to promote Jessica Bendinger’s new book, The Seven Rays. Ends August 23rd and is open for US and Canada residents.
  2. Washington Watch Blog have a ‘Help Control Earmarks’ Kindle Contest. I’m rather confused as to what it is and it seems like work – however, a free kindle sounds good. Ends October 1st or earlier.
  3. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has an online kindle contest where you’re encouraged to donate, although the rules say you don’t have to. Ends July 31st.
  4. The Toilet Paper Blog has a Kindle Giveaway that ends July 30th.
  5. Become a fan of Oberon Design’s facebook page (whatever that means) and get entered to win a free kindle. Aug 15th, 2009 last date.
  6. Lijit has a storytelling contest to win a free kindle. Entries till Aug 15th.

Last week’s GeekSugar 10 Free Kindles Contest is still going on – think there are 5 left.

There’s also an ‘add your photo and get a free ebook download’ contest from T. L. Hines.

Finally, our independent author for the day, John Pearson -

  1. His book ‘Learn Me Good’ is just $1.
  2. It’s got a 4.83 stars rating across 48 reviews (40 of the 48 gave it 5 stars).
  3. Its about his first year in teaching.

Quick Thought on Google

The fact that Google gives so much weight to age means that searching for something like ‘kindle contests’ invariably results in lots of outdated links.

On the other hand Twitter search (first time i actually used it to search) doesn’t do a good job of weeding out duplicate tweets.

It’s strange that Twitter are thinking of monetizing using Google Ads, instead of working on better real-time search. Perhaps they don’t realize that companies like Dell wouldn’t mind paying 2-10% to them.

One Response

  1. Really looking forward to checking out director Jessica Bendinger’s new novel The Seven Rays when it’s released on Nov. 24th…. Just downloaded the first chapter from the book’s official site, and Bendinger is quite a talented writer. You can find the first chapter of the novel here: http://www.thesevenrays.com/
