Kindle DX Back in Stock

August 5th, 11:48 pm  PST and the Kindle DX is finally back in stock. We are also 15 kindle dx reviews away from hitting the kindle dx price in reviews.

Disregard the 3.5 stars rating as most (67 out of 88) of the 1 star kindle dx reviews are courtesy anti-DRM people who’ve never owned a kindle. It’d be a 4.1 stars rating without their ‘help’.

Kindle DX is available again

Kindle DX is available again

Its now been almost exactly 6 weeks since the Kindle DX was sold out. For the last 4-5 days the Kindle DX page at Amazon had been showing ‘Ships in 2-3 days’.

Kindle DX in the face of Plastic Logic, Apple iReader, and upcoming Sony 900

Its good that Amazon has the Kindle DX available again. What I’ve been seeing on my blog is that there’s a lot of interest despite the sell-out (as much as the Kindle 2 which is really surprising).

Now that it’s available Amazon has a chance to get some market share before we have the three new threats come out -

  1. Plastic Logic’s eReader with its non-breakable screen technology and touch capabilities.
  2. Sony 900 Reader which will probably have the same size screen as the Kindle DX and add in touch.
  3. Apple’s 10″ iReader which is JobsGuaranteed to increase your sex appeal and bestow magical dancing abilities (especially when behind a thin curtain or screen).

Will Kindle 2/Kindle 3 and Kindle DX remain in stock this Christmas Season?

Given that Kindle DX followed in the illustrious footsteps of J.D. Salinger Kindle 1 and disappeared for so long, you have to wonder whether Amazon will again hit supply problems in early November and miss the best parts of the shopping season.

My predictions are -

  1. Kindle 2 does not sell out.
  2. Kindle 3 does sell out.
  3. Kindle DX does sell out.

Wonder why Amazon hasn’t scrubbed out every kindle dx review from the anti-drm camp.

  1. I subscribed to your blog for the last couple of months through the RSS. I thought I would be reading objective reviews. Unfortunately, I’m getting tired of reading “put downs” like below often whenever you mention Apple.

“JobsGuaranteed to increase your sex appeal and bestow magical dancing abilities (especially when behind a thin curtain or screen).”

These comments are entirely unwarranted when the device isn’t even out.
Hypocritically, you slam criticisms of Kindle from non-Kindle users in this same article.

I thought about unsubscribing from this blog before. I’m looking for objective reviews to make an intelligent purchase. Today was the clincher and I’m unsubscribing. Do consider reigning in the bias. If not, rename your website “Ilovekindlereview.com”

  2. 1st, the steve jobs dancing line is tounge-firmly-in-cheek.
it isn’t even that funny – don’t understand why you interpret it as a put-down.

every iphone owner i know keeps talking about how ‘sexy’ the iphone is.

how is me joking about it a ‘put down’ ???

2nd, would appreciate it if you left an actual email address so didn’t have to have this conversation via comments.

3rd, take a look at my sony 600 review. i’ve literally said it’s very impressive.
once apple has a device out, if it’s great for reading, I’ll gladly say the same about it.

I think we ought to have some sort of understanding that if Apple lovers can call the kindle unsexy, kindle owners can poke fun at Apple’s focus on ‘being sexy’.

it’s unfortunate that you left because of a simple misinterpretation. the internet, like email, removes all context and i understand how a joke could be misconstrued as a ‘put down’.

    do appreciate the feedback.

you can read any actual review on the site and it’s always very, very objective with pros and cons explicitly stated.
read the kindle dx review or the kindle 2 review. honestly – what bias do you see there?
