Why are these independent authors in the Kindle Store not getting a book deal yet?
John Rector and Boyd Morrison already have book deals. However, there are a lot more indie authors deserving of book deals that should be getting snapped up by now. Here are three -
Learn Me Good by John Pearson.
- 4.8 stars across 53 kindle store reviews.
- 43 are 5 star reviews. The book is $2.49.
- There have been very few indie books that have gotten so many reviews, and so many positive recommendations.
- If you read the reviews it certainly seems there’s potential for a movie.
The Variant by John August
- 4.75 stars across 48 kindle store reviews.
- 37 are 5 star reviews.
- He’s already a famous screenwriter.
- His short story was a big hit.
- Why not sign him up for a book deal?
Soul Identity by Dennis Batchelder
- 4 stars across 83 customer reviews.
- 64 out of 83 reviews are 4 stars or 5 stars.
- Reviews obviously indicate this book has an absolutely great premise and could do with polish.
- Great Movie Idea.
With these authors the number of reviews and the high rating is proof of viability. If an author has gotten 80% 5 star reviews on over 50 reviews i.e. John August and John Pearson, you can’t get any more reader feedback.
The Kindle Store is doing all the work for publishers -
- You can see which indie authors are getting traction.
- You can see what people think.
- In certain cases, such as Soul Identity, you can see its obviously a book that’ll greatly benefit from a publisher’s input.
- You can find books that would make for great movies (that’s what might happen with Boyd Morrison’s books).
Why aren’t more publishers stepping up and signing some of these authors?

Hi there!
I just found this post, but I wanted to thank you for posting a nice positive piece about Learn Me Good. Hopefully one day, I will indeed get some sort of deal!
You’re welcome. Do hope you get a deal – you have one of the best sets of reviews I’ve ever seen on Amazon (indie or published book).
