Black Friday eReader Deals

Here are the big Black Friday eReader deals and coupons -

Kindle Black Friday Deals – None for the Moment

There are no Kindle Black Friday deals – will update if any show up.

Amazon did just add PDF support to the Kindle 2 and landscape mode (manual screen rotation) and increased battery life 75% (with wireless on).

  1. Kindle 2 for $259 is pretty reasonable.
  2. Refurbished Kindle 2 (US wireless only) for $219.

It is very unlikely there will be any Black Friday deals (unless B&N introduce something and Amazon are forced to match).

Kindle 2 is the best eReader in my opinion (now that they have added PDF support).

Sony Reader Black Friday Deals

Sony Reader Touch Edition (PRS 600) plus cover for $278 at WalMart.

Sony Reader Pocket Edition for just $159 at Fry’s. No Store pick-up and only one per household.

(Both Courtesy MobileRead).

Since there are lots of stores selling the Sony Reader, there are a lot of ‘deals’ - most of which are not very good.

  1. Sony PRS-300 plus a $30 gift card for $199 at BestBuy.com. That’s not much as the PRS 300 is $199 to begin with.
  2. BJ’s has a free case with the Sony PRS 300 for Black Friday.
  3. BuyDig is selling it for $187.
  4. Toys R Us has a free $15 Sony Connect card with a $199 Pocket Edition (only for Black Friday sale – not now).

The first two are courtesy MobileRead.

Also courtesy MobileRead – at Staples go to ‘Find a Store’  section and get a 10% off printable coupon that can be used to get the PRS 600 for $270. It’s only for 1 day – Saturday, 28th November, 2009.

Staples Deals on Sony Reader (courtesy Gizmodo) -

Sony Reader Pocket Edition And Cover With Light Combo – $214.98
Sony Reader Pocket Edition Cover With Light – $54.99
Sony Reader Pocket Edition With 5″ Display – $199.99
Sony Reader Touch Edition And Cover With Light Combo – $319.98
Sony Reader Touch Edition Cover With Light – $59.99
Sony Reader Touch Edition With 6″ Screen – $299.99

The combos are the only ones that are deals and not particularly good ones.

Barnes & Noble Nook eReader Deals

B&N hasn’t revealed their Black Friday deals yet.

  • They had to come in pretty low ($259) and there’s little chance they’ll offer anything for Black Friday.
  • Plus there are rumors that the nook is selling out which makes a Black Friday deal very unlikely (unless Amazon cut prices).

Black Friday eReader Deals

None Yet. Will be updated as deals are found.

If you’re picking an eReader, it’s best to stick with the top two (Kindle, nook) or Sony. This holiday season there aren’t any other eReaders (so far) that are in the same league.

Thoughts on Black Friday eReader Deals

The Kindle and the Nook only retail from their respective companies so the only possible Black Friday Deal (and there’s very little chance) is a kindle coupon or deal straight from Amazon and ditto for the nook.

Frankly, they have both cut prices so much it’s hard to see prices go any lower this year.

Don’t hold out for a Black Friday deal. Plus, in either case, you have a return period -

  • 14 days for nook returns.
  • 30 days for Kindle. Although holiday period means returns until the end of Jan 2010 ought to work – please check before buying the Kindle.

Best of luck finding a great eReader at a good price.
