we have 2 Kindles. suddenly when you turn it on to return to page you were reading, it does not do this?
very annoying. Have others experienced this? How to then find your correct page

Yes.
If you get wireless reception there’s a good chance the Kindle 3 will work.

No account with a cellphone company is needed. No you wouldn’t – just make sure you get one in Canada.

Check the Kindle product page for whether or not Canada gets free Internet. If it does then you will be able to access the mobile version of email sites.

If I buy a kindle 3 or 3G in the US will it work when I get home to Kelowna, BC Canada? They are scarce as hens teeth up here.

Is it necessary to have an account with a cell phone company to make us of the 3G? I have been told that I would need a separate account for it in Canada.

Will I be able to access my e-mail and send messages with the 3G version? If so will it cost me?

Major disappointment has now been changed to a delight. As you probably are now aware, the Kindle DX was released in Canada on January 19th. Mine was shipped from Amazon that day, and has been in use since about an hour after its arrival. Works well even up here in the Ottawa Valley where cell phone coverage is ‘spotty’ at the best of times. Excellent readability, and the book download is seamless. I have previously been using a tablet laptop that I bought for e-reader purposes, and the Kindle is far superior. I do not regeret missing the Apple release since a device that is not visible in sunlight is of limited use, and the four hour battery life is just plain sad when compared to the Kindle. The colour display on the Apple is a nice-to-have, but frankly I haven’t had much by way of colour content in my books since I was a kid – would be nice for graphs or magazine illustrations, but not worth the trade-offs such as the Apple with a separate device for a keyboard. I am quite happy (so far) with the DX.

The $311 total pricetag for Canadians is in US dollars, isn’t it? Makes it more like $330-$340 delivered from Amazon.com.

Amazon.com currently lists the ‘latest generation’ Kindle. Is that the Kindle 2? Is the $31 cost you list Duty?
