4 Free Kindle Books – it’s getting to be rather predictable.
- A Catered Birthday Party by Isis Crawford. It’s a mystery and 6th in a series (the books stand by themselves though).
- With Extreme Pleasure by Alison Kent. It’s an erotic thriller.
- Immortal by V. K. Forrest. Vampire Romance.
- A free gamebook – House of Danger by R. A. Montgomery. It’s #6 of the Choose Your Own Adventure gamebooks.
There are also a few Kindle bargains (the first two of these are mini books) -
- Seek Success, Not Approval by Kevin Elko for $1.59.
- Whatever You Are, Be a Good One by Stewart Emery for $1.59.
- 4 Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell – a bundle for just $7.99. They are not in the right order and are in the middle of the series. Found at MobileRead.com.
Hopefully you liked one or more of these.
It’d be interesting to get statistics on -
- How many romance novels are downloaded per Kindle.
- How many are actually read.
- Sales of the gamebooks. You’d think they were especially suited to the Kindle.
- What are the best-selling short novels and short story collections. Currently short story collection apps are #1 and #5 in the Paid Book Apps section of the App Store.
Barnes & Noble takeover rumors
It seems that billionaire Ronald Burkle has bought up almost 20% of B&N’s shares and B&N’s board have come up with a poison pill to avoid a take-over.
Read all about it at Public Radio. They wonder why Mr. Burkle would want to invest in B&N at a time that Books are declining. The answer – nook and ebooks.
- In the best case the nook becomes and stays a top 2 eReader.
- In the worst case Mr. Burkle can sell B&N to Amazon or Google or perhaps even Sony.
David Carnoy of CNet thinks that B&N has an edge over Borders and other non-Amazon book retailers because of the Nook and that they could transition to ebooks and be more profitable.
