The pre-renovation side looks prettier to me.

New Additions to the Kindle Store.

First, newspapers –

  1. The McClatchy Co. added 5 newspapers to the Kindle (courtesy Editor and Publisher) – The Sacramento Bee, The Charlotte Observer, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Anchorage Daily News, and The News and Observer in Raleigh. Find them at the Kindle Newspapers section.
  2. The subscription price is a very reasonable $6.99 a month.
  3. McClatchy will also be adding The Kansas City Star and The Miami Herald soon.
  4. There are now 69 newspapers in the Kindle Store.

Guess the news of 30,000 WSJ subscribers has newspapers willing to experiment.

Next, magazines and comics -

  1. Barron’s is being listed as New in the Kindle Store. It’s $10.99 a month.
  2. Information Week is now available on the Kindle.
  3. Harlequin Comics and SoftBank Japan announced that comic adaptations of 6 Harlequin’s romance novels are available on Kindle.
  4. The Harlequin comics are $3.99 per title and are English versions of Harlequin’s Japanese Manga.
  5. They are Kindle DX optimized.

Oprah’s next season will be the last of her talk show.

Aah – Oprah did so much for Kindle sales last year. It’ll be sad to see her go.

She’ll be focusing on the Winfrey Television Network. A random factoid that got mentioned – 42 million people a week watch her show on Television. Wow!

Nook being sold out is getting TV coverage

KIRO 7 was talking about it and the Kindle forums say CNBC was too. KIRO7 mentioned that the nook was a Kindle competitor and that Kindle is still available.

Nothing like giving a local giant some free publicity ;) .

It really is interesting to see the amount of Publicity the nook has managed to conjure up. Running out of stock will prevent them from really hurting the Kindle.
