This book gets a super pretty cover -
They Never Die Quietly – Daniel M. Annechino
- Mr. Annechino got sick and tired of traditional publishing politics and self-published.
- Blogging since October 2008. Rarely updated.
- Lots of social web profiles.

What makes for an Amazon Encore Author?
There seem to be some main ingredients -
- Quality – Excellent Reviews and lots of Awards.
- Hard Work – A book that has been worked on a lot. A ton of effort on the author’s part promoting it.
- An author that can be a star i.e. Compelling Personal Story.
- Perhaps Sales Data (which is impossible to figure out post selection).
- Strong online presence (blog, social networks, websites).
- Self-Published.
Amazon are cherry-picking. They’re taking books that obviously should be published and publishing them.
Consider Perfect for Paper – Any single girl could relate to it. There’s even a guy on Amazon saying every guy can relate.
Is there a Shortcut for getting into Amazon Encore?
Apparently the magic formula is -
- Write a really great book.
- Work really, really hard.
- Find success and great reviews. Helps to win a few awards.
Then Amazon will step in and help you.
The 2-4 years of hard work magic formula
.
Things that aren’t being Mentioned
Here are a few Amazon Encore related things that aren’t being discussed -

- Top Literary Agents calling up to represent Encore Authors.
- Amazon.com, Kindle Store and Audible are quite a combination for promoting a book.
- Automatic credibility and lots of it.

Amazon Encore might be about to show Publishers how to bat .500.

thanks for the update.
I believe Daniel’s book is They Never Die Quietly. Not “Quickly.” Yes?
Nice post.
I have to agree with you regarding the future of publishing where AmazonEncore is concerned. Self-generated buzz might be something that will be required of all new authors in the future in order to get published.
The world has changed dramatically in this regard. Some of the buzz that a few of these authors have created would’ve landed them huge deals a decade ago and everyone would be speaking their name. However, we all know that the world of books is not the same place it once was. But something had to give sooner or later with what’s happening.
With the advent of Authonomy, The Breakthrough Novel Award and even Chuck Palahniuk screening for new authors, the direction of New Publishing is now set with a clear and chartable course, whereas it’s predecessor still looks to be drifting in rough seas.
AmazonEncore will soon release my book ‘Greyhound’ in March and I’m very thankful. As for interesting life stories, I think getting published in today’s market is probably the most interesting.
All the best …
