The Kindle now comes with free 2 day shipping. Amazon added this option today (December 17th) and it extends the Kindle Free Shipping deadline for Christmas delivery from December 17th to December 22nd (8pm PST). 

1. Please do remember to choose the 2 day shipping option during check-out. The discount will appear in the upper right corner of the Order Summary page – the page where you complete the order.
2. The Kindle 2 day free shipping only applies to the continental United States.
3. It does not apply to Kindles shipped outside the US. Also, no P.O. Boxes or APO, FPO or DPO.

So we know the last date and time for free Kindle shipping - What is the absolute latest date and time you can order the Kindle for Christmas?

Kindle Christmas Shipping Deadline

In all, there are four Kindle christmas shipping deadlines that are important -

1. December 22nd, 8 pm PST is the deadline to get free 2 day shipping and get the Kindle by Christmas - You must order by 8pm PST.
2. December 23rd, 4:30 pm PST is the deadline to get the Kindle delivered by Christmas on 1 day shipping.
3. December 24th –  There is local express shipping in select cities with these cutoffs -
   

   Seattle: Order as late as 1 p.m.
   New York City: Order as late as 10 a.m.
   Philadelphia: Order as late as 10 a.m.
   Boston: Order as late as 10:30 a.m.
   Washington D.C.: Order as late as 10.30 a.m.
   Baltimore: Order as late as 10.30 a.m.
   Las Vegas: Order as late as 10 a.m.

4. December 25th – Choose an Email Gift Card or a Printable Gift Card which can be emailed or printed anytime.

The main date to keep in mind is December 22nd for free kindle shipping that reaches in time for Christmas. You hit the 8pm cutoff on the 22nd and you get free Kindle 2 day shipping and things are good.

What if you miss the Kindle Christmas deadline or don’t want to pay for shipping?  

You can email or print a kindle gift card. 

1. If the person already owns a Kindle they can buy books or accessories. If they don’t yet own a Kindle they can use the Kindle Gift Card to buy a Kindle.
2. You can always add a note saying you weren’t sure what kindle cover they’d like so you let them pick (or a similar excuse ).  

It’s a really good move by Amazon to add free 2 day shipping for the Kindle and effectively extend the Kindle Christmas Shipping Deadline for free delivery by 5 days.
