For the third time we have non-free books showing up in a search for free kindle books. That means there’s a chance these 7 books will be free at some point today or tomorrow (no guarantees) -

The theme seems to be health and fitness and life lessons and most of the Publishing Imprints seem to be part of the Hachette Group. Perhaps Amazon wants to help us with our New Year’s Resolutions.
Here are some books (courtesy MobileRead) that are definitely free -
- Altar of Eden by James Rollins at B&N. Read it on B&N eReader for PC, iPhone, Mac and BlackBerry.
- Short story by Charlaine Harris – Dead Giveaway. In PDF format.
- University of Chicago Press has Tim and Tom free (the site is sometimes down so try later in the day if it doesn’t work). It’s a book about the lives of the comedy act Tim Reid and Tom Dressen.
- Get FLIP by Peter Sheahan free if you subscribe to the Random House newsletter. It’s about entrepreneurship and free to promote his new book. Note: It’s in DRMed ePub format and will only work on Adobe Digital Editions on PC. It will NOT work on the Kindle.
- Simon & Schuster have some free advance copies of White Cat by Holly Black.
For some strange reason the number of free books bouncing around the Internet is rather low this week. Hopefully it picks up.

If ture this could be pretty cool…

Yes. It seems to be outside of the Amazon channel. However, it is pretty big.
Can the Barns and Noble free books (James Rollins) be read on a Kindle? If not, is there a way to reformat them if they can be?
They can’t be read on a Kindle. The DRM means no reformatting is possible.
Carrie, in the last few months they’ve gone from 360,000 books to 390,000 books including adding more books from Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and Artemis Fowl.
Perhaps you could make a list of books you’d like to buy for your son and then check that list.
