I was on the fence for months before I finally decided to order my Kindle 2. I had been reading such mixed reviews about the device and about Amazon's customer service that I simply could not decide about the purchase. This review is for all of those people, like me, that cannot decide if they need a Kindle 2 for themselves. Well, struggle with the decision no more and ORDER IT! I am so happy with my Kindle 2 and I look forward to reading it every single day. All of the problems that I was worried about are not problems at all. Downloading books is easy, the screen is NOT too dark, the font size is adjustable and the Kindle customer service support is terrific. I had a problem with my Kindle 2 and I was instantly connected with the most helpful representative. I did not have to wait on hold and the problem was solved in no time. I have made the highest recommendations of the Kindle 2 to my friends and family and will continue to do so in the future. I can say with absolute confidence, if you order your own Kindle 2 you will not be disappointed!!!

I do want an app so that I can interact with Shelfari.com directly from the kindle. I use Shelfari to track what I'm reading, when I finish books, etc. Unfortunately, their website doesn't play nicely with the kindle browser, but it seems like it would make a perfect little app. If they jumped on the kindle bandwagon, it seems it would give them something over their competitors (goodreads, librarything, etc)

the rest of the ideas are good too. i do want folders/tagging. custom screensavers would be nice, but i'm not sure i'd be willing to pay money for it. honestly, most apps, i don't think i'd be willing to pay much for... i need to save my money for books

I wouldn't mind a full calendar which syncs with google calendar, including multiple calendars, etc. I wonder if the people at OggSync would want to try it. I can view my calendar now through the web browser, but it would be nice to have it available off line.

I can deal with getting my gmail through the web browser, but a better gmail interface would be nice. I can't get to Exchange Server using the Kindle briowser. Being able to access it online would be nice. Being able to read both off line would be better.

Heck, a full blown pim which syncs with google & Exchange would be great. I've paid in thr neighborhood of $25 for it on my cell phone; I can't be the only one who would love it on the Kindle's larger screen.

A journal / blog program would be interesting. (In other words, a journal which could create blog articles for blogspot, wordpress, etc.)

I could easily see dropping $50 on good productivity software in the first year. The Kindle screen would be much better than a cell phone screen. While having my pim on my phone is convenient, I miss the page size of a Franklin Covey planner. (I don't miss carrying around an inch and a half binder every where I went.)
