Around the world of eReaders, Kindle book deals

First, the Kindle book deals -

  1. 1 cent preorder of Stopping Time, Part 1 by Melissa Marr. It’s a pre-order and it might just be a chapter. However, it might also be a novel or novella.
  2. Primary Victim by Christopher Cihlar is just $1 and reviewed well. It’s zooming up the charts.
  3. The Complete Adventures of Alice in Wonderland (with a TOC) is just $1.

Wish I had more time to maintain an indie author section that was up to date. Here’s a forum thread at the Kindle forum covering Indie Authors that make it to the Top 1000 in the Kindle Store.

Lots of eReaders arriving in March 2010

The iPad might be the biggest launch of March but it’s not going to be the only one -

  1. Electronista covers the fact that the Alex eReader missed its February 22nd launch and will instead release in the first week of March.
  2. Gizmodo talks about the Entourage Edge and has snippets from an interview with the company.
  3. We also had the launch of the Key eReader in Singapore just a few days ago.

The slow news days might be about to end.

Good eReader and Book Articles

  1. Very interesting post related to the history of books at Timmins Press.
  2. Derek Thompson at The Atlantic argues that Information is actually getting more expensive.
  3. Mike Shatzkin talks about Professor Cader’s views on eBook pricing.

Just a quick thought – Are we at the point that, no matter how intelligent the argument or how eloquent the language, readers will only pay what they feel is a fair price.

Kobo CEO’s Top 10 eReader Insights

Teleread cover Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis’ post on Top eReading Insights. Quite interesting.

Here are some of the things he shares -

$99 eReader.

$4.99 bestseller.

SuperKindle from Amazon.

Google Tablet (announced)

15 million eReaders sold.

It’s a bold post and some of the other points (2009 being the zenith of paper books) are even more bold than predicting 15 million eReaders sold in 2010.
