12 of the Kindle Encore novels for $4 or less

Amazon seems to be doing a promotion of some sort. A lot of the Amazon Encore releases were on the Movers and Shakers list and after checking it seems that 12 of the Amazon Encore published Books have been priced at around $3.99. Here are the ones that are doing quite well in sales -

  1. Celia and the Fairies by Karen McQuestion is just $2.39, rated 5 stars on 13 reviews and available for preorder. Not sure if this is doing well but it’s got a perfect rating and the lowest price.

When Celia Lovejoy’s parents announce that her grandmother is coming to live with them, Celia is delighted. Now while her parents work at their toy company, she can spend time with Grammy instead of going to bossy Paul’s house.

When her grandmother tells stories about the fairies living in the woods behind Celia’s house, her parents are quick to dismiss it. “Just a lot of nonsense,” says her father with a wave of his hand. Her mother reminds her that a ten-year-old girl is too old to believe in magic. But if there are no fairies, how to explain the glimmers of light she sees from her balcony at night?

  2. Silent Tears: A Journey of Hope in A Chinese Orphanage is rated 4.5 stars on 120 reviews and priced at $3.99. It’s doing especially well.

In 2003, Kay Bratt relocated her family to rural China to support her husband as he took on a new management position for his American employer. Seeking a way to fill her days and overcome the isolation she experienced upon arriving in a foreign country, Bratt began volunteering at the local orphanage. Within months, her simple desire to make use of her time transformed into a heroic crusade to improve the living conditions and minimize the unnecessary deaths of Chinese orphans.

Silent Tears traces the emotional hurdles and daily frustrations faced by Ms. Bratt as she tried to change the social conditions for these marginalized children. The memoir vividly illustrates how she was able to pull from reservoirs of inner strength to pursue her mission day after day, leaving the reader with the resounding message that everyone really can make a difference.

  3. A Cruel Harvest by Paul Reid is rated 4 stars on 26 reviews and just $3.99.

“A Cruel Harvest” tells the epic tale of two young lovers who are separated in a pirate raid on their Irish fishing village and forced to face terrible danger at the hands of tyrants in order to be reunited.

The novel, set in 1790, stretches from the windswept coast of Ireland to the sun-baked hills of Morocco.

  4. A King of Infinite Space by Tyler Dilts. Rated 4 stars on 41 reviews and just $3.99.

Awake in the darkness, long after midnight, Long Beach Homicide Detective Danny Beckett is trying to keep his past at bay. Haunted by all the things he’s lost–his wife, his family, his hope–he begins to investigate the brutal murder of Elizabeth Williams, a popular High School English teacher.

Soon Danny begins to understand that apprehending the murderer is not just a case to solved, but an act of personal redemption

  5. Easily Amused by Karen McQuestion is for $2.99. It’s rated 4.5 stars on 47 reviews. Amazon seems to have taken quite a shining to Karen with 3 of her books now Encore editions.

Twenty-nine year-old Lola Watson has two best friends, a dream job, and a charming old house inherited from a great-aunt she barely knew. Life would be perfect if only she could avoid her intrusive neighbors. And for that matter, she also wouldn’t mind being happily married like her friend Piper, or even engaged like her younger sister Mindy.

Lola’s peaceful existence is shattered when high school buddy Hubert moves in with her after a break-up, her sister changes her wedding date to Lola’s thirtieth birthday, and the nosy neighbors take Hubert under their wing.

  6. Greyhound by Steffan Piper is rated 4.5 stars on 30 reviews and priced at $3.99.

Steffan Piper’s “Greyhound” is set in the early ’80s, and tells the story of 12-year-old Sebastien Ranes, who travels 2,000 miles across the country on a Greyhound bus, chronicling the lessons he learns and people he meets along the way.

  7. Waiting for the Taliban: A Journey Through North Afghanistan by Anna Badkhen. $2.99 and set to release at the end of August 2010. It seems to be somewhat related to this series of articles.
