  1. There’s one book on the top 100 free list, Inseparable, for which Amazon says, “This item will be delivered to your kindle on October 26, 2036.” If you don’t want to wait until then, you can buy the paid kindle edition for $7.99.

    • Looks like that was a glitch, it’s no longer on the free list. I suspect the 2036 is some variant of a 32 bit time_t glitch — unix time (when expressed as 32 bits) runs from 1-1-1070 forwards to 2038-01-19 and backwards to 1901-12-13, so that date is about 14-15 months back from the end of time. Something unexpected like a buffer overflow presumably set a number of fields (notably price and release date) to semi random variables.

      • well, I’ll be waiting and if Amazon doesn’t ship me my free copy in 2036 they better have a good explanation ;)

        @switch11, I wonder if Amazon will still exist in 2036. Will Kindles still exist? What version number will the kindle be? Will I even care?
